Arts Festivals Worth a Road Trip Across Western Montana This Summer

One of the best things about living in Western Montana is that no single town has a monopoly on culture. From the Madison Valley to the Bitterroot, Missoula to Helena, this stretch of the state is packed with arts festivals worth building a weekend around — and most of them are still ahead of us. Madison Valley Arts Festival — July 25

Kicking off the run is the 30th Annual Madison Valley Arts Festival, hosted by the Ennis Arts Association in Peter T.'s Park right on Main Street. It runs alongside Summer SLAM Fest, which puts a spotlight specifically on local artists, so the two events together give Gallatin and Park County residents a genuinely packed weekend of culture close to home.

Daly Mansion Garden Gala — August 8

Down in the Bitterroot, the 2nd Annual Daly Mansion Garden Gala brings an elegant evening event to the historic mansion's grounds starting at 4pm. It's a step above the typical festival format — more polished, more intimate — and the mansion's gardens make for one of the prettiest backdrops in the valley for an evening out.

River City Roots Festival — August 21–22

Missoula closes out the middle of the summer with its biggest arts and music festival of the year.
